OVERVIEW:
BLACKACRE’S experience and access to associates have enabled it to provide specialized expertise to a variety of industries.

MINING
BLACKACRE has a deep understanding of surface and underground mining as well as coal preparation. This has allowed BLACKCARE to put together reserve bases,design and operate underground mines and plants. BLACKACRE also has represented a number of landowners in negotiations of leases with mining companies.

POWER GENERATION
BLACKACRE has used its production, transportation and utilization skills to support the electrical generation industry. BLACKACRE has advised clients on fuel procurement issues, contract disputes and has developed a fuels procurement department for one new entrant.

COAL BED METHANE
BLACKACRE has advised landowners on the development of coalbed methane reserves and the necessity for coordination with the developers of the mineral estate.

LEGAL
BLACKACRE has worked with numerous law firms since 1992 on a variety of contract disputes. BLACKACRE has acted as an independent engineer and expert witness and arbitrator in several trials and arbitrations on a wide variety of issues, including PSI vs. Exxon Minerals and PSI vs. Amax Inc each valued at over $300 million. BLACKACRE also has represented insurance companies in defense of mining companies in health and safety related claims. BLACKACRE also has extensive experience working with trustees in U.S. Bankruptcy Court proceedings in many of the coal producing jurisdictions. BLACKACRE has been selected as the Independent Expert on behalf of Unsecured Creditors in $30 billion of coal industry debtors reorganizations.

GOVERNMENT AND REGULATORY
BLACKACRE regularly consults with agencies and industry firms that constantly review the coal industry and make estimates of future performance. BLACKACRE typically reviews output from models these organizations develop and comments on the reasonableness of the assumptions in the model.
